GODIVA FESTIVAL 3rd and 4th JULY and COVENTRY COUNCIL GREENBELT DEBATE 6th JULY |
GODIVA FESTIVAL Satruday 3rd and Sunday 4th July.
Come and meet some of our campaigners at the Godiva Festival. We have been able to arrange a spot in the GREENSPACE TENT. Find out how you can help.
COVENTRY CITY COUNCIL will debate the Inspector's Report on Tuesday 6th July. Council Leader John Mutton has indicatedthat the Council will accept some parts of the report and reject others. The new coalition Govenment has said it will kill off the Regional Spatial Strategies, but as yet they have not yet been offically replaced, so there are conflicting views on whether the Council is able to "cherry-pick" in this way.
However, Bob Neill (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State) said on 30th June "We will give local authorities the opportunity to revise partially those plans to
reflect the abolition of the regional strategies and the imposed targets that went with them"
The meeting starts at 4pm in the main Council Chamber, and there are are only around 30 seats in the Public Gallery so please be there early if you can.
So many Councillors said in their election leaflets they would defend the Green Belt. Lets see how many of them stand by that promise when it comes to the vote.

Will this be in time for us? Extracts from the programme published today |
THE COALITION: OUR PROGRAMME FOR GOVERNMENT
www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/DG_187877
We will rapidly abolish Regional Spatial Strategies and return decision-making powers on housing and planning to local councils, including giving councils new powers to stop garden grabbing.
In the longer term, we will radically reform the planning system to give neighbourhoods far more ability to determine the shape of the places in which their inhabitants live, based on the principles set out in the Conservative Party publication Open Source Planning.
We will abolish the unelected Infrastructure Planning Commission and replace it with an efficient and democratically accountable system that provides a fast-track process for major infrastructure projects.
We will publish and present to Parliament a simple and consolidated national planning framework covering all forms of development and setting out national economic, environmental and social priorities.
We will maintain the Green Belt, Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) and other environmental protections, and create a new designation similar to SSSIs to protect green areas of particular importance to local communities
We will provide incentives for local authorities to deliver sustainable development, including for new homes and businesses
And does that last point give us more cause for concern?
e-mail suewrensmith@hotmail.co.uk with your thoughts.

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED |
Grant Shapps has been confirmed as Housing Minister and Dan Byles the our North Warwickshire and Bedworth MP has e-mailed to say " I have spoken with Grant's office today and they have confirmed that the coalition deal with the Lib Dems has not had an impact on our policy over housing, so I am still very positive that no housing will go ahead on the greenbelt"

Council Elections 6th May 2010 THANKYOU to EVERYONE WHO VOTED. |
Thankyou to everyone who voted for the four Independent "Save our Greenbelt" Candidates. And a really big thank you to all the many people who helped deliver over 24,000 leaflets across the city within 2 or 3 weeks.... We achieved a great deal in such a short space of time, a total of 1,644 people voted to save the greenbelt....Our candidates were each allowed two supporters to help scrutinise the count, and we had a very exciting evening.... None of our candidates came last.....Walter Milner achieved 8.4per cent of the vote in Bablake ward with a total of 703,.... Sue Smith 6.4per cent with 461 votes in Holbrook,.... Merle Gering gained 3.6per cent with 281 votes in Westwood and Alex Iwanczuk 2.3 per cent with 190 votes in Wainbody......it took 5 re-counts to resolve the issue in Westwood and the sitting Councillor clung on by just 36 votes.....Coventry Council has now changed hands, and the new Council leader John Mutton re-affirmed the promise he made at our "Question Time" debate on 4th March not to adopt the Inspector's report if it meant building on the green belt.........The report has been delayed until 17th May and the new Council does not take power until 20th May, so we must remain ready to take further action when we see what it says.

11.15am Saturday 24th April SAVE OUR GREENBELT CITY CENTRE RALLY |
Following the success of our rally on 14th November, (see our HOME page for photo) we are arranging another in rallly the run-up to the Elections........................................The Coventry Core Strategy Inspector's Report is due to be published before the end of the month, and will then go before the Council to be ratified after the election, probably in June. Remember, this will decide whether or not to build 33,500 houses, 11,500 on precious Green Belt land. Councillors do have an option...........................
Councillors COULD VOTE IT DOWN Other Councils have rejected the plans. Locally Nuneaton and Bedworth Council have done just that, and are now totally opposed to the huge build on the Ash Green and Keresley Village sites....................................
We aim to help Councillors decide how they will vote -- for -- or against the ratification...............................................
We are inviting the SUPPORTING MPs, Councillors and Candidates from all the main Parties to join us and as many as possible will be given the opportunity to speak........... As this is a Public Event under election rules our own Independent (Save Coventry Green Belt) Candidates will not get priority.................................but you will be able to choose who you speak to on the stroll round and afterwards........................................... ....................................
We will meet at 11.00 - 11.15am and our "stroll" will start at 11.30am from outside The Methodist Central Hall, Warwick Lane, Coventry CV1 1HA, and as before, we will then make our way around the City, hopefully stopping again for group shots in photogenic places, then on to Speaker''s Corner outside the Council house, Earl Street, for the public speaking event.................
Hopefully, the weather will be kinder to us this time, and we hope to have the same excellent media coverage. Some councillors have derided us as only representing "a few". This could be our last chance to make our views heard.................................

?QUESTION TIME DEBATE? 4th March 2010 The introductions |
Dorothy Hall from Keresley welcomed eveyone, and gave a brief outline of what had happened so far, including the maps of the Green belt land that is under threat. Dorothy explained about the councils lack of consultation and ended by saying "There are thousands of people affected by this,.....we are doing what the Council should have done"....She then said we were getting advice about a Judical Revue and we knew this could cost a lot of money so we would be asking for contributions later....... Dorothy then introduced our Chairman for the evening Mr.Bob Brolly.... Bob emphasised right at the start that he was completely impartial..."I am not taking sides anywhere, anyhow... The B.B.C. would not allow me.. My job is to referee.... If the Councillors start to waffle on, I'll try and stop the waffle and get the answer to your questions..... Bob then introduced the panel and asked them to say a few words beginning with....................Ken Taylor, leader of the Conservative Councillors on the Coventry City Council, who said "Thank you for inviting me,.. I look forward to answering these questions,.. and maybe clearing up some of the unknowns that people have at the moment...That's what I am here for".....................Then came the leader of the Labour Councillors John Mutton who said.."Can I first of all thank you for the invitation to come along tonight, you will notice,..I've got a lot of paperwork with me,.. because I believe that it's time the people of Keresley and Finham in particular knew the truth,.. and hopefully the documents that I've brought will demonstrate that.....................We then heard from Russell Field the Coventry Lib Dem Councillor who said "I am very pleased to be at this meeting, I am very particularyly pleased to see so many people here.....Its very good to see people actually engaged in the political process. ....I too am hoping tonight we can get some clarity on this issue concerning the greenbelt in Coventry and the surrounding area"....................Our last panellist was Mr. Mark Sullivan of the Campaign to Protect Rural England who said his branch of the C.P.R.E covered the whole of historic Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull...."The whole of the greenbelt land around Coventry is very important to us. This City has had its green belt for over 50 years and more and its very fortunate in that, and it's what we want to keep"

?QUESTION TIME DEBATE? 4th March 2010 |
Well over 300 people from all over Coventry and the surrounding villages and areas attended the Question Time debate at Keresley Colliery and Social Club......Feelings were running high, so we were very lucky to have BOB BROLLY in the chair..... I think everyone agrees that thanks to Bob's impartial, witty but firm touch the meeting was very successful and we covered a lot of ground...... Sincere thanks to the panel,.... Coventry Councillors JOHN MUTTON, KEN TAYLOR and RUSSELL FIELD, MARK SULLIVAN of the Campaign for Rural England and DOROTHY HALL who represented us mere mortals.... We do intend to follow up on some of the questions more thoroughly .....I hope to publish a longer report tomorrow and some of the questions and answers over the next few days

CHRISTMAS RAMBLE 28TH December 2009 |
Thankyou for such a fantastic turnout at our Christmas Ramble....Several hundred people from all over Coventry, Bedworth, Nuneaton and surrounding areas turned up and braved the cold and fog.... It was truly amzing to see group after group of people emerge from the mist, and as blue skies took over it became an awe inspiring and exhilarating experience..... Bob Brolly was stuck in the recording studio and so was too late to start us off, but he joined us at Manor Farm and led the ramble from then on....We invited all the Coventry Councillors and had apologies from the Lord Mayor Jack Harrison, Linda Bingham, David Skinner, and Angela Waters who as they had prior commitments were unable to come.....However, we were joined by the following Coventry Councillors Roger Bailey, Brian Kelsey, Marcus Lapsa, Andy Matchet and Ken Taylor (Conservative), Joe Clifford, John McNicholas, John Mutton, and Mal Mutton (Labour) and Russell Field (Liberal Democrat).....Nuneaton and Bedworth Conservative Councillor Damon Brown was there too....We need to keep the pressure up, so we will be asking as many of you as possible to turn up at your local Ward Forums and Councillor's surgeries, the details can be found on the Coventry City Council website and we urge you to attend. Please let your friends and neighbours who do not have internet access of the dates and ask them to attend too....The local Council Elections are not far away, and it is not too late for Coventry Council to act as other Councils have already done and take notice of their electorates wishes.

REPORT of the PUBLIC MEETING AT THE GOLDEN EAGLE 16TH DECEMBER 2009 |
We were pleased to welcome Councillor ANDREW BUURTENSHAW the Cabinet Planning Portfolio Holder for Nuneaton and Bedworth, Wawickshire County Councillor FRANK McCARNEY and the R.Hon.MIKE O'BRIEN the MP for North Warwickshire and Bedworth, Mike O'Brien said that like everyone else he had been very surprised at the recent ECO TOWN proposal for the areas to the north of Coventry and he had spoken to the Minister about it...The ECO TOWN proposals were put TO the Government BY Coventry Council and he had correspondence to prove it. The Miinister John Healey told Mike that if Coventry do not now want the Eco Town it will not go ahead....Despite their political differences both Mike and Andrew agreed that Nuneaton and Bedworth do not want an ECO TOWN or any overspill from Coventry...Regarding the Core Strategy Andrew only took over the planning portfolio in August and he said that Nuneaton and Bedworth Council had originally agreed to the overspill number of houses AS A LAST RESORT (so it might never have been needed)... However, when it became clear that the overspill and Keresley Eco Suburb was to be among the first building work, the decision was reversed. Nuneaton and Bedworth Council then wrote to the Minister and made strong submissions to that effect at the Coventry Planning Inquiry....Mike O'Brien said local people "don't like Coventry dumping 3500 houses in our borough" and he was delighted that Nuneaton and Bedworth Council had changed their decision.... Frank McCarney was concerned that Ash Green, Keresley and Bedworth were down to take more housing than Stratford-on-Avon and the impact that would have on the major flooding problems already being suuffered in the area... Mike said that the Core Strategy consultation process had been very poor and it would be worth instigating a Judicial Review of the consultation process. Both Mike and Andrew agreed to look at that option further.

PETE WATERMAN IN THE CITY ARCADE,FRIDAY 11TH DECEMBER |
Coventry Lord Mayor & Pete Waterman met to unveil a placque in the City Arcade. SAVE OUR GREENBELT added a dash of colour to the event. We had many people stop and offer us their support. I think Councillor Ridley was surprised (dismayed) to see us. However, Councillor Field stood holding one of the banners, and he introduced us to Councillor Nellist (they both voted against the Core Strategy). We also had some very kind help from our Lord Mayor Jack Harrison. Proud Coventry Kid Pete Waterman went out of his way to offer a few words of encouragement and be photographed showing his support once again. Please let me stress -we are not affiliated to ANY political party and we look for cross-party support from anyone who genuinely opposes concreting over the Green Belt.

COVENTRY CITY COUNCIL DEBATE ON THE GREENBELT 8th DECEMBER 2009 |
The Labour motion was "This Council believes there is no case to prove the need to use Greenbelt land in Coventry or the surrounding area for house building. Sufficient Brownfield land is available to build 26,000 homes in the City. This Council therefore states unequivocally that we have no intention of building homes on Greenbelt land at least until the majority of brownfield sites have been developed." However after the usual "the government made us do it" and "You asked for an increase in the numbers" we eventually got to the point where Councillor Ridley proposed an amendment which would then read "This Council condemns recent attempts by the Labour Government to bounce the City Council into building an eco-town on greenbelt land at Keresley. Although the Council is actively promoting the building of eco-friendly homes on existing brownfield developments the Council resolves to oppose the building of an eco-town in or around Coventry. The Council belives that at the moment there is no case to prove the need to use Greenbelt land in Coventry or the surrounding area for house building. Sufficient brownfield land is already available to build 22,760 new homes in the City. (Note the reduction in numbers) The Conservatives & Lib Dem voted for the amendment (in a "NAMED VOTE") and Labour voted against. Then the Conservatives and Lib Dem voted for the motion and Labour voted against..Councillor Ridley also vehemently stated that the Council would never sell Kingshill for development" but Councillor Ridley neglected to say that the Core Strategy allows for Compulsory Purchase Orders. And why was it in the Core Strategy Proposals? Great turn out from Cromwell/Duggins Lane, Finham & Keresley. I think the Councillors know our feelings on the matter. Paul Mason from Newsnight was filming in the Council Chamber, but left before our debate started. Shame, you missed the main event Paul.

LAST DAY OF THE PUBLIC INQUIRY. 4th DECEMBER 2009 |
Mr. Payne re-iterated that his remit was NOT whether or not the Regional Spatial Strategy would go ahead, that had already been decided, the number of houses was fixed, and the Minister's report was due in December. Mr. Payne said it was his job to decide WHERE, WHEN and HOW. We then heard some startling evidence from The Environment Agency who voiced concerns fundamental to the delivery of the Core Strategy. Their view was that there had been no regard to protecting water quality or the treatment of foul water. (Finham was already over their discharge consent). Apparently the Council had received funding to provide various studies, including specifically for water studies, but as Severn Trent had paid for that, the Council spent the money on other things
Mrs Hinton for The Environment Agency said it would not be responsible of the Environment Agency to let the situation get worse.

TUESDAY 24th SITE VISITS KERESLEY 9.00.am -12.00 noon. FINHAM 1.30ž |
NO ONE MUST TRY TO APPROACH, SPEAK TO OR OTHERWISE INTERRUPT THE INSPECTOR'S PROGRESS. THE SAME RULES APPLY AS IN THE INQUIRY ROOM.
THE INSPECTOR'S KERESLEY ROUTE will start at 9.00am from The Hare & Hounds and will be mostly over farmland. I repeat his investigation must not be hampered in any way. However, an awful lot of people do walk their dogs over these fields, so normal life should carry on
THE MEDIA KERESLEY ROUTE. We expect to have TV/Radio/Press coverage. WE NEED TO CREATE A SPECTACLE FOR THEM, as we did at the Rally. The Media route will be along roads. We suggest a start at the Shepherd, Tamworth Road, Fivefield Lane, and back down Bennett's Road to the Shepherd.
We ask for as many people as possible to help by lining the MEDIA ROUTE. Banners, placards, people, cars, lorries horse boxes, what ever you can bring. PARK SAFELY along the route and take care NOT TO OBSTRUCT OTHER TRAFFIC. Everyone who can should aim to be in place at 8.45am. That isnt possible for many, so join in when you can & try your best to bring others with you and stay as long as you can. We dont know what time the PRESS/TV will be there, and MrPayne is due to finish at 12.00, However, the going may be heavy after all the rainfall, so as with the other days the timetable may well stretch a little.
FINHAM PLANS.
There are not many footpaths across King's Hill, so Mr. Payne is likely to use the roads Green Lane, Gretna Road, Kenilworth Road, Stoneleigh Road and Kings's Hill Lane. He may also visit the following sites Finham Primary and Finham Park schools, Alvis Sports Club, the Council's Garden Nursery, Severn Trent drinking water extraction works and the sewage treatment works.
The FINHAM GROUP will have BANNER bearers at the bottom of King's Hill Lane and Green lane at 1.15 ready fro Mr. Payne's arrival, and along Green Lane around 2.30 to 4.00pm. It would help to have a lot of people out to meet their School children early. Mr Payne is likely to discover the difficulty in joining or crossing the A45. The afternoon of the 24th November seems a good day for walking the dog (repeatedly).
Further inspections of smaller sites are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. However, so far we have only been asked to help at the Hawkesbury and Sutton Stop site on Thursday 26th at 1.30.

INQUIRY REPORT FOR 19th NOVEMBER. Morning session |
Thanks to our reporter Jim Passmore."Thursday's Topic was Keresley Eco VillageGeoffrey Robinson MP spoke out against the use of Green Belt land for housing & lack of consultation by the Council. Many speakers have complained of the poor or non-existent level of consultation.
Mr. Robinson conducted his own postal survey & 70 cent of the replies said consultation was "poor" or "non-existent". Merle Gering cited details of an earlier consultation by a municipality of similar size to Coventry for a Local Development Plan. Local consultation was generated by having special newspaper supplements, advertisements, letters to all residents, meetings and TEN specially equipped buses touring the area followed by a random follow up of 1000 people enabling the effectiveness of the campaign to be determined. Was this Southhampton? queried Mr. Payne.(he has recently completed an Inquiry there).
No said Merle It was Coventry in 1971."

We informed Cllr Williams, their last 12 months minutes made no mention of Keresley & Keresley residents are so very upset at lack of representation he would get little support at the election. The Forum discussed climate change & the Council's Climate Change Officer spoke of extreme weather events, yet when we asked what effect 33,000 houses would have on flooding,Cllr Kelsey would not let him reply.

INQUIRY REPORT FOR 18TH NOVEMBER |
Many thanks to Sylvia Martin for her first report Today's evidence session from the Highways Agency & Coventry City Council made it clear that all road links will be 100 developer financed. There must be incentives and grants from Central Government to build affordable housing on scale needed. North Coventry will be transport/road HUB, not just a North South corridor. Keresley Eco Village option will not have rail link using freight line. It is too expensive. They will start with a fast bus system, then wait and see which routes people use

OUR YOUNG AMATEUR ARCHAEOLOGIST IS MAKING HEADLINES ALL OVER THE WORLD |
The Mesolithic flint found by Samuel Owens made headlines in the Coventry Telegraph only a few weeks ago, yet his proud father Allan was astounded to see the report had been picked up and carried on a specialist site in Italy..If you were at Saturday's Rally, you would have heard Allan talking about the many thousands of flints in the area. They go on to quote Allan saying the also quote Allan's saying "There is a lot of history in this area and I think it's very important this is explored rather than just building homes on top of it" ..
I put the link on shortly

INQUIRY REPORT FOR 17TH NOVEMBER (part 2) |
Tuesday morning dealt with both Matter 5 (City Centre) and Matter 6 (Neighboorhoods) in the morning. Interestingly, the developer of the new Severn Trent Headquaters being constructed in Coventry City Centre was paid 6.5million pounds by Advantage West Midlands for the project....
In the afternoon, it was Matter10 (Environment). The Coventry Core Strategy has put forward a proposal of 33,500 new dwellings which will result in projected overspill situations involving some 7,000 new dwellings. Concern increases that the excessive number requested by Coventry is threatening the Green Belt and established communities

INQUIRY REPORT FOR 17TH NOVEMBER |
Many thanks to Jim Passmore our Roving Reporter for today.
The first topic was the City Centre. It was recognised that the current city centere built in the 1960s needs updating. Next week new proposals will be published. This will include plans for shops, offices and housing integrated in a single developments. Offices of a high standard to encourage businesses to locate here and improved access to areas outside the ring road such as Swanswell, Spon Street and Far Gosford Street. For neighbourhoods more support for community centres, and protection of greenspace, and that the current green wedges be included into the greenbelt. Concern was raised about the lack of suitabe bio-diversity studies, and current methods in identifying farmland types for the environment |

INQUIRY REPORT 12TH NOVEMBER |
OUR STAR REPORTER WORKS LATE TOO
Many thanks to Bob Fryer(Finham) who has been there the last three days
Today was spent on Green Belt (General) and the Coventry Core strategy. Developers were obviously keen to proceed asap and kept quoting the RSS as giving the green light to start. There was a good attendance of residents and a continuous flow of comments including repeated concerns over the high number of new dwellings and serious concerns as to the the ability to attract sufficient employment to match it. Developers with their earlier involvement in the process, extra planning experience and training, more information, financial support, etc. seemed not to appreciate the difficulties experienced by the residents. It was clear that while the residents were making an impression, more involvement was required from many more residents.

FURTHER NEWS TODAY |
We do have some do have some possibly very good news. I was invited to a live Channel 4 News Broadcast tonight from St. Mary's Guildhall. Actually, a very serious and sobering event as on Armistice Day as we were discussing our role in Afghanistan. Three of us took the opportunity to present Jon Snow with our Save Coventry Greenbelt dossier. We hope he will find enough grist for the excellent Channel4 News mill. Jon's blog yesterday was titled "Mad about Trees" so it really did seem were in the right place at the right time. We also distibuted some Rally leaflets.
We finished of the evening by having a "constructive discussion" is I believe how a politician would describe it - with Cllrs Ridley & Foster. You might have said it was a "heated discussion" Councillor Ridley asked "How many people are you representing? A few hundred? Coventry is 300,000 people" We asked how many of them the Council had consulted?
and things went somwhat downhill from there...MORE ON THAT LATER
I wonder how many of the only "a few hundred" will be there on Saturday

TODAY AT THE HEARING |
A positive day on Housing with time taken to examine and refine operational parameters in the light of targeted options. Within the Coventry Boundary, CCC held responsibility for its 26,000 additional housing units,& would work on the general idea of using brown fields first, but recognised that in the light of the long lead times-SOME GREEN LAND may have to be started before all the brownfield sites have been used. When all the land in Coventry has been used, CCC will approach N&BBCs and WDC for a start to be made on the overspill allocations with the responsibility for the operation resting with the host local authority.

INQUIRY NEWS & PROTEST UPDATE |
Today was the 1st day of the Public Inquiry. Keresley Village, Cromwell Lane & Finham were all very well represented. We condemned the Council for their lack of consultation, they spent £437,000 on the plans but only£4300 on public consultation. It was pointed out that the Council's population figures were wildly inaccurate & they got in a terrible muddle trying to justify their figures. We also said that the jobs forecast for Warwick & Coventry Universities & Walsgrave Hospital were unbelievably optimistic. Mr Payne said that his decision may well be delayed until April That is very close to a General Election
Yesterday a group of us met Priya Mistry of The Coventry Times at The Hare & Hounds, Keresley. Her report will be published on Thursday together with a photo.
Today we met with photographers from The Coventry Observer and The Coventry Telegraph at Sutton Stop. They too will be publishing reports and photographs.
MAKE SURE YOU COME TO THE RALLY ON SATURDAY-we have to make the Council listen

PLANNING COMMITTEE PROTEST |
Another great smack in the eye for Coventry Council Planning Committee
A good turnout today-thanks to all who came-we doubled the number from last time
We even managed to smuggle our SAVE THE GREENBELT banner in to the Committee Room & unfurl it. Then we told the Councillors "Nuneaton & Bedworth Councillors have listened to their voters & thrown out their greenbelt plans, Northampton County Council have listened to their voters & thrown out plans for 60,000 houses as unsustainable. When are you Coventry Councillors going to listen to us? You will hear our voice at the May Elections"
We were then asked to leave..Mission accomplished
Later, the Lord Mayor came out and asked us to meet him on a date to be arranged

HARE & HOUNDS MEETING |
Many thanks to all who came to tonight's meeting.
There was great support for a Protest Rally on Saturday 14th November.
Details still to be finalised, but looks like we will be at the Council House around midday.
A great response to Geoffrey Robinson's survey, this should totally support our complaint to the Independant Inspector that Coventry City Council did not consult properly on their plans to concrete over the Green Belt.

OTHER COUNCILS LISTEN TO THEIR VOTERS |
NUNEATON & BEDWORTH COUNCIL are refusing to build "overspill" housing on Keresley Green Belt They say "That number of houses would destroy the character of Keresley...and the green belt". Nuneaton are writing to the Government opposing the development.
NORTHAMPTON COUNTY COUNCIL have rejected plans for 60,000 houses as "unsustainable"
They backed the views the public who expressed concern over jobs, infrastructure, flooding and the environment. "We have listened to what members of the public have had to say"
It is time COVENTRY CITY COUNCIL took notice of us

BEDWORTH/KERESLEY/COVENTRY |
Great turn out tonight Thank you all for supporting the campaign
Bedworth certainly gave Coventry's Lord Mayor Jack Harrison the welcome he deserves. He didn't have anything to say to us tonight.
However, the Nuneaton & Bedworth Mayor Tom Wilson went out of his way to speak to us, and had his photo taken with the younger members of our group

ASH GREEN & KERESLEY UNITE TONIGHT |
Newdigate Social Club, Smorrall Lane Bedworth. 6.50 to 7.50 pm TONIGHT
All those over the Coventry Boundary who are distraught that the Coventry Plans mean massive overspill building on their GREEN BELT come and join us
Those who voted for this, and kept their plans so very well hidden from us, must be under no illusion that we will put up with the desecration of our beautiful countryside.

TAMWORTH ROAD PROTEST |
We were advised that the Lord Mayor who had disparagingly addressed us as "you people"
was visiting The Royal Court Hotel. We were on the Tamworth from 11.30 & had much support from passing motorists honking their horns (a few even stopped to get more details)
at 1.50 the Lord Mayor arrived in his limosine, and was again advised of what us mere citizens thought.

Ist very rough map should be available tomorrow |
WARNING Please understand..this is my 1st effort, so boundary lines are not house by house specific, I have tried to follow roads and rivers as much as possible, but the although some of the boundaries are meandering, particularly in the more central areas, my feeble effort accentuates that.
I will endeavour to give you a more accurate picture of the current proposals and the few remaining areas of retained Green Belt as soon as I have practised a bit more.
The current Planning Inquiry is dealing with the least contained parcels that are fewer in number that suuround the current city borders
I decided that it would be more important for you to see what is down the line in the wider Green Belt area if this Removal from Green Belt is given the go ahead. As you will see wider is the right word.
Hopefully, once this map becomes widely available, it will galvanise far more support & effort to kill this Green Belt Grab now.
